Sr. Manager Government/Community Relations

Responsible for local regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for assigned franchises within a market area.
- Manages franchise renewal and transfer efforts for assigned franchises consistent with the strategies and policies for the market area
- Prepare franchise renewal applications and supporting data for renewal negotiations
- Participate in franchise renewal negotiations with municipalities and/or their consultants
- Comcast liaison and spokesperson with local constituencies including: elected and appointed officials, community groups, civic groups and organizations and media.
- Assist Director in the management of franchise agreements including, but not limited to: knowledge of community related issues and provide information re: the same; negotiation of franchise renewals; monitor and ensure compliance with franchise agreements; manage internal and external relationships to meet franchise requirements; and implement any transfers of franchises.
- Drafts correspondence related to government affairs and franchise activities- Implements the government relations and public policy strategy as developed for the market
- Identifies important municipal issues of significance to the company
- Develops and maintains relationships/communication with local officials and their staff
- Represents the company at municipal meetings and various community functions
- Implement public affairs initiatives, which support local issues and enhance legislative and regulatory goals.
- Understand all substantive issues and financial ramifications in order to educate, influence, and respond to key stakeholders including elected and appointed government officials, media, civic groups and community groups.
- Anticipate and communicate the impact of operational decision upon customers and outside constituents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

College degree or equivalent work experience; min. 5 yrs. experience in MA/NH state/local politics; knowledge of local government and critical community issues. Experience negotiating and/or influencing internal and external constituencies is essential; previous local civic involvement preferred. Legal experience including contract drafing a plus.
