Brief Role Description:

Responsible for the planning, procuring, deployment and continuous support of the Lucent #5ESS. This position will also include the routing and translations of the Lucent LCS and MetaSwitch Softswitch's and potentially other NGN equipment as deployed in the network. DMS 100 engineering and routing experience would be helpful. Key Responsibilities:

Project Management of various telecommunications activities. These include the coordination and installation of new network switching systems, expansion and reconfiguration of existing switches, new product applications and miscellaneous customer systems. Aid in the design of the Long Distance and Local Access and Transport Area trunking networks to provide efficient and cost effective service. Define and document standards on DAS, PDIT, LDIT, RDIT, Rate & Route, Announcements (ETC, 16A, SAS), and Voice Mail translations within the 5ESS. To include the equivalent routing and translations in the Next Generation Equipment, including the Lucent LCS and appropriate attribute sets in the MetaSwitch softswitch. Will also include local and LD switch platforms. Develop new applications, perform service, software and equipment evaluations, test and develop maintenance requirements and administrative procedures. For specific customer needs, interface with Marketing and Sales groups to determine the network system and infrastructure to support their requests. Participate in technical assistance and problem resolution as required to include periodic on-call. Required Skills

Access, PowerPoint and Visio preferred Excellent communication skills for, training, presentations, and correspondence Solid organizational skills with ability to perform multiple tasks Working knowledge of Signaling System 7, Sigtran, VoIP, voicemail, trunk/traffic/switch capacity engineering, switched network architectures, NGN network architectures, analog voice and ISDN features, Digital Switching Systems, Network Equipment including Subscriber Line Carrier, Power Plants, Digital Cross Connect Systems (DACS) and Multiplexers. Experience

5 + years Telecommunications experience or any combination of experience, education and training which provide the level of knowledge, skill and experience required. Previous Translations/Hardware experience in #5ESS required. Knowledge of Local and LD translations essential. Previous Translations and routing experience in a softswitch environment. Preferably using the Metaswitch Softswitch. Knowledge of Local and LD translations essential.
