Sr. UNIX System Administrator

PLEASE NOTE:  Your resume will not be properly formatted if you respond to this posting via monster board or another job board.  To properly respond, you should format your resume in MS Word only no PDF’s and send it to r.beitler@jobquestsite.com as an attachment.  Visit our website at http://www.jobquestsite.com for other career opportunities. SCOPE:  Under the supervision of the Director of IT, provide technical leadership of a large Linux environment;  Perform design and administration activities on Linux servers and desktops;  Manage multiple large Network Appliance servers;  Manage a complex NetBackup environment;  Write scripts to automate administration tasks;  Provide technical and judgment mentorship to junior Systems Administrators;  Perform routine administration activities on Windows servers and desktops;  Perform system backups;  Completely resolve assorted end-user issues in a timely manner;  Participate in the on-call rotation;  Perform assorted light-duty facilities activities, such as physically moving users, managing keys, etc.  REQUIREMENTS:    5-10 years experience.  Capable of writing proposals, and act as a vendor liaison;  Deep knowledge of UNIX fundamentals (paging, swapping, IPC, device drivers, performance tuning)  Deep knowledge of networking concepts (IP, routers, routing protocols, firewalls, switches, etc)  Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, Bash, a shell);  Familiarity with Microsoft products (Server OS’s, XP, SQL Server, Exchange, IIS);  Experience in an environment with at least 150 users, and at least 300 devices;  Motivation and ability to learn new skills quickly;  Client is looking for someone immediately.  Salary is open GENERAL INFORMATION:  For consideration, please forward your resume as an attachment.
