As the metro market leader in both SONET and ROADM technology, the fundamental building blocks of next-generation networks, Fujitsu is helping customers take networking beyond convergence. We are seeking Support Engineers to join our team in Richardson (Dallas).  We have both full-time and contract-to-hire (conversion within approximately 6 mos).  Work assignments are complex in scope and require the application of advanced engineering theory, methods and techniques to the resolution of complex technical problems.  Responsibilities include:Solve complex problems through direct analysis of collected data. Act as the interface between Tech Services and other Fujitsu organizations to resolve complicated customer issues. Review documentation for technical accuracy on project related documentation and new products. Provide on-site troubleshooting to resolve a customer issue. Conduct turn-up, test, upgrades and network migration activities Diagnose and solve technical problems in multi-tier customer networks from remote presentation. Provide system status to field technicians and all levels of management. Use common software applications to display, maneuver and report on network events in a real-time mode. Consult with other technical services or Fujitsu engineers to resolve complex system anomalies. May act as a project leader for a major portion of complex technical projects requiring the engineer's ability to establish direction and parameters of investigation and his/her ability to determine needs for equipment and supplies required to complete a project. On call rotation Extensive travel required Additional Requirements for more senior level support engineers:Plan and direct a major phase of design or development and coordinate the efforts supporting the project. Analyze, evaluate and plan the approach and procedures solutions to complex technical problems. Work with Product Support to establish a working knowledge of the new products before they are released to the customer as generally available. Assist Product Support with first office applications with new products when possible. Investigate complex or unexplained customer problems to verify validity and generation of engineering investigation requests (EIR). Possibly conduct tests and investigations of a complex nature in the design, development or evaluation of devices, systems or applications. BS, field of study: Electronics & Telecom or equivalent work experience Familiarity with Fiber Optics, Multiplexers, SONET and Data Networking Test Equipment 3+ years experience Must understand all aspects of a public communications networks including fault, performance, and interconnect transition services. Excellent verbal and written communications skills Cisco certifications preferred
