Surveillance Technician
JOB PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 level support for Verisign’s SS7/SS7-IP-Centric customer base and underlying network infrastructure by monitoring, surveying, and when necessary, trouble shooting suspected anomalies within the network. The network components (include but are not limited to; Tekelec Eagle STPs, Cisco ITPs, Cisco Routers and switches, DS3, DS1, and DS0 circuitry) and/or an SS7-based signaling protocol (including but are not limited to; ; ISUP, TCAP, NP SCCP, ANSI-41, ITU, SMS, GSM, E.164, TCP/IP, SIP, H.323 and voice over IP (VoIP) protocols. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• This position is responsible for monitoring the integrity of Verisign’s SS7/SS7-IP network.• React to network and/or protocol anomalies (including outages, degradations, and impairments) by interpreting, manipulating, and analyzing data and/or information obtained or extracted from various operating support systems (OSS) tools, trouble reports initiated by internal entities, SS7/SS7-IP-centric customer initiated trouble reports, and information obtained from external network entities performing similar responsibilities.• Coordinating Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 level trouble analysis• Resolution efforts between Verisign, the SS7/SS7-IP-centric customer and any applicable third party entities. QUALIFICATIONS The ability to perform these duties is required: A strong knowledge of SS7/SS7-IP-based protocols (Preferred). A strong knowledge of Agilent ACCESS7 and NETeXPERT OSS tools (Preferred). A working knowledge of the TEKELEC STP (Preferred). A general knowledge of Cisco ITPS (Preferred). A general knowledge of Cisco switches and routhers (Preferred). An understanding of Verisign’s core business (Preferred). Demonstrated success in a team-orientated environment (Preferred). Demonstrated problem solving ability (Preferred). Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills (Required). The ability to perform shift work (rotating shifts) in a 24 X 7 environment (Required). A Bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis on telephony or data communications, or relevant work experience in the field of telecommunications or electronics (Required).
