System Engineer

Determine Samsung new GSM technology based features as well as non-GSM features and capabilities per standards and specifications. Providing technical responses to GSM carriers in North America.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Communicate with carriers and vendors in providing accurate responses to technical questions or in collecting information.
• Researching, analyzing and evaluating products features and act as a technical knowledge resource for GSM and non-GSM features
• Evaluation of products compliance based on carriers' defined standards and specifications
• Assist Samsung technical support group in the resolution of features by identifying the problem and making recommendations to the engineering group on how to resolve them.
• Provide GSM technical knowledge, expertise and support to R&D, Product Management, Testing teams and sales.
• Obtain pertinent technical documentation from various sources relative to new product development to enable STA products to meet general industry standards and regulatory requirements in order to provide competitive product offerings.
• Provide technical leadership in all technical based meetings.
• Develop and maintain excellent leadership skills including proactive, customer service oriented working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
• Plan, organize, assign and prioritize multiple engineering support assignments and projects as directed by the manager of the group and/or other departmental officers.
• Read, interpret and act on very high level of proper understanding of technical documents, engineering test materials and related documents based on engineering standards.
• Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.
• Keep up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions, products and services.


Background/Experience required:
• BSEE, BSCS, MSEE or MSCS
• Have between 6-8 years technical or telecommunications engineering related experience.
• Have strong knowledge in GSM based features including 2.5G and 3G.
• Have strong knowledge in non-GSM features (e.g. Java, OMA, etc)
• Experience in specifying and evaluating GSM based device features.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and strong presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member.
• Capable of multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
• Strong problem solving skills: ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action.
• Competitive knowledge including solution, technology and product offerings.
• Provide technical direction on a variety of device features and application developments based on experience and gained knowledge from slef-paced learning
• Understanding direction of the industry and providing technical input to development decisions.
• Good organization skills and ability to work in a lean, fast-paced environment a must

Necessary Skills/Attributes:
• Demonstrate very high level of competency in verbal and written communication with customers and internal personnel in technical areas.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in interpreting technical information for various types of audience.
• Be driven and able to function and work independently as a systems engineer.
• Very highly team oriented individual aiming at improving team environment in order to achieve team goals and complete assignments within established time frames.
