We are seeking a System Engineer with strong knowledge of phone systems, PBX trunking, good understanding of network services such as DNS, TCP/IP and e-mail.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Ensure that the highest level of technical support is met at all times through prompt, thorough and professional assistance;

· Analyze problems and develop solutions to meet customer needs; perform QA testing when needed as directed by management;

· Provide on-site installation services and conduct administrative/end-user training, as needed;

· Travel to end-user sites as necessary for installation, troubleshooting, and/or training purposes;

· Develop and conduct formal training on applications supported as needed;

· Provide over-the-phone technical support to Active Voice distribution channels on Unified Messaging applications that interface with PBX products and subsystems;

· Communicate with customers via telephone and written correspondence;

· Develop technical documentation for internal and external use;

· Submit formal reports of software problems encountered by customers;

· Provide on call after hour assistance as needed on rotating basis;

· Provide field test installation and support services when needed;

· Successfully complete all product and service training as directed by management;

· Be a  resource for Professional Services engagements and pre-sales configuration support, as needed;

 

 

Requirements:

 

· Associate Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent, plus a minimum of two years IT/Telecommunication systems field or TAC environment required;

· Good knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Server and Active Directory, Exchange 2000 / 2003 and SQL Server 2000 /2005.

· Up to date Microsoft MCSA Certification (with the elective on Exchange Server) or Linux Red Hat Certified

· Good understanding of network services such as DNS, TCP/IP, e-mail (IMAP4, SMTP, and MAPI)

· Some programming experience in C, Visual Basic (.NET and Visual Studio 2005 is an advantage).

· Knowledge of phone systems, PBX trunking, T1, ISDN (PRI/BRI) desired;

· Proficient PC knowledge on current Microsoft operating systems, standard business applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, NetMeeting), and communication programs (ProComm, HyperTerminal, PC Anywhere, etc) required;  Proficient knowledge on all aspects of PC and server hardware, including all levels of RAID;

· Ability to manage priority conflict and stress;

· Excellent call management skills and telephone etiquette;

· Demonstrated logical and efficient troubleshooting skills;

· Flexibility to travel;

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
