System Sales Engineer 3

SYMMETRICOM, Inc. is the worldwide leader in Carrier/ISP markets for innovative network test and measurement solutions for Voice, Data and Video. We are expanding our market leadership into the emerging QoE market for IPTV and other triple play services and seek a Systems Engineer to take us to the next level.

Responsibilities: Oversees pre-sale and/or post-sale support of company products/systems. Provides technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products to ensure that the system is functioning according to specifications. Provides answers to customer inquiries concerning system software and applications. Provides software development and consultation to prospective users. May build a mini-application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping.
Essential Qualifications: Uses skills as a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey level position. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interact with senior internal and external personnel. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.  3 to 5 years experience in the networking industry as a Sales Engineer Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.  Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to build consensus among people with strong opinions Ability to be creative, efficient and productive with minimal supervision or guidance Must be able to work as part of a team & be able to give and receive constructive criticism Must adapt to changing requirements, deadlines and priorities with a positive attitude Very hands-on person, willing to dive in and take charge, identifying and tackling key issues Excellent working knowledge of SMTP, HTTP, SSL, TCP, IPSec, PPP, RTP, RTSP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IP video and VoIP  protocols BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent work experience
