Telephony Field Engineer (Avaya)

This individual would be part of a team working on various implementation projects including Call Center, VoIP/Convergence projects of new or upgraded solutions within the Avaya Definity/Communication Manager products.   GENERAL SUMMARY Works under supervision of the Operations Manager, Service Manager, or other designated supervisor to provide on-site telecommunication support in the field. Candidate must be able to work independently for most day to day responsibilities including “on line” ticket tracking, customer follow up and ownership of issues.     PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/KNOWLEDGE •   Experience in programming Avaya Definity and Communication Manager systems. · Network Avaya systems and Voicemail over IP using SIP and H323. · Actual implementation using Provision and/or ASA knowledge in Dial Plan, ARS, Route patterns, COS, trunking, IP trunking, DCS+ and DS-1.  Knowledge of station and call coverage programming. · Assist in design and implementation on customer networks for VoIP applications. •   Performs moves, adds and changes for customers remotely. ssuSupports on site field service technicians with remote support. •   Experience in Avaya voicemail systems required (Intuity, Octel, Modular Messaging)  Experience in programming Call Centers. •   Provides high level of customer service when responding to a customer request or fulfilling project requirements •   Handles paperwork for orders and transports materials to work-site § Able to work well communicating with various levels of engineering and Sales support NetVersant Solutions- Network Solutions for an E-World! 



  High school diploma with 2 year Trade School Certificate in Electronics or other related certification Avaya ACA and or ACS certifications 5-7 years minimum working with Avaya related products and services Advanced networking experience with IP applications Ability to communicate network/IP Covergence related to associated system programming. Design and program software translations for Avaya Communication Manager and Definity line of products; S8700, S8710, S8500, S8300 Media Gateways and G650, G600, G350, G700 Media Gateways, Definity G3R/Si/Prologix, Voice Messaging; Audix/ Intuity Audix, ARS, Call vectoring, and CMS Strong communication skills required Understanding of QOS (quality of service) and the OSI model Knowledge of Windows and familiarity with DOS and Linux Understanding of AVAYA product line and related technology Must have PC skills commensurate with current technology for working on PBX platforms. This is to include remote connectivity to systems, client/server function for Avaya applications, VPN, dial up networking etc.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for PC.
