Job Description/Responsibilities
Recommend network improvements, changes and expansion to our Network. These might include changes to our routing policy, network architecture and topologies, customer policies, new products and equipment selection for the Everest broadband network and its underlaying technologies.
Interact and negotiate with vendors to identify, specify, purchase and deploy software and hardware solutions for commercial customer requirements and our own internal Networks.
Everest is a 24x7 operation and, as such, this position is required to participate in after hours support and proactive maintenances.
Provide Tier III support to all business units within Everest.
Provide all networking related services for the Everest Corporate network and work with the IT/IS group to create and provide solutions to support the business.
Assist with the development and publishing of standards for configuration, management and Network security.

Job Skills/Requirements
The candidate must have a strong desire to learn and become an expert in several key networking areas.
Demonstrated working knowledge of Data/Voice communications utilizing PTP and ring topologies based on SONET, Metro-Ethernet Rings, and converging technologies such as VoIP.
Understanding of RF based services/technologies such as Video and DOCSIS.
Understanding of VoIP concepts like SIP signaling, MGCP signaling, QoS, and voice carrier over RTP.
An ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow-through on both verbal and written instructions, and have the ability and flexibility to multi-task, prioritize, and organize multiple projects/tasks concurrently while meeting required deadlines.
Candidate must have working knowledge and experience with Internet and networking technologies to include Firewalls, SAN, and SLB.
Must have hands on experience with Cisco routers and switches as well as prior experience with a variety of CPE devices from different vendors.
Candidate must have excellent customer interaction and pay high attention to detail while possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Training or experience with Cisco/Lucent MultiService SONET ADM equipment.
Training or experience with Foundry Networking products.
Training or experience with Tellabs 532 DCS platform.
Training or experience with Adtrans NetVanta and other CPE product line (TA 600 and TA900 series).

Job Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent job experience, plus 2 - 5 years of relevant telecommunications experience
Professional certification (CCNA or other relevant industry certificate.)
Experience writing and running shell scripts is a plus.
