We have an opening for an experienced UNIX System Administrator.  Working in our corporate headquarters, this position plays a key role in our small infrastructure team and will be the lead for all UNIX related activities.

This position is responsible for maintaining the highest availability and best possible performance of multiple internal operations applications - mainly billing and ordering related. Responsibilities include support, trouble-shooting hardware, software and network related problems.

Responsibilities:Linux (Fedora, RHEL) / Unix (Solaris) System AdministrationOversee and/or perform all aspects of site planned and unplanned maintenance.  Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify problems with systems, applications, and networks  Aggressively leads site problems to resolution  Executes/Creates/Updates Standard Operating Procedures accordingly, or delegates this task to others. Define and implement small work efforts that improve process, monitoring, workflow.  Define new monitoring procedures and continually review existing. Coordinate and facilitate activities with vendors and escalation support teams Implement system changes, jobs and maintenance as directed and work with teams to follow-up on bugs and issues introduced during this process.

 Qualifications: 5+ years of system administration experience in a Unix environment (preferably Solaris and/or Linux). Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking principles as well as web technologies Working understanding of Linux troubleshooting commands in regards to disk I/O, CPU usage, load, and network connections & usage.  Familiar with the monitoring tools (preferably MON and home grown scripting) and virtualization technologies (VMWare in particular) Demonstrated ability to remains calm under pressure, to smoothly context switch between issues and prioritize them appropriately. Ability to clearly & concisely communicate issues in a less technical sense to management and business. Desire to hold self personally accountable for results Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines.
