US Tax Director

Location: US-NC-Raleigh/Durham-RTP Requisition ID:  REQ60057296 (Post ID:71368192) Job Level:  ManagerNortel is seeking a US Tax Director to lead a Raleigh-based team of Federal, State & Local, and Sales & Use Tax specialists.  The US Tax Director will be part of a global tax team of nearly 70 tax professionals located around the world, and will report directly to the Vice President – Tax, located in Toronto.The primary objectives for the US Tax Director are to provide leadership and build organizational capability for meeting all regulatory tax obligations in the US including financial reporting of tax and the delivery of tax savings through tax planning.  The successful candidate will have:§ At least 10 years of experience in US tax, including leading a similar function with a large multinational company and/or Big 4 public accounting firm, with significant exposure to tax issues related to having a non-US shareholder, foreign investment from the US and related issues around permanent establishments, tax treaties, transfer pricing, cross-border business contract terms, and mergers & acquisitions;§ Specific experience in the financial reporting of tax, particularly FAS 109 and FIN 48 under US GAAP;§ A Certified Public Accountant accreditation (along with MBA or JD considered a plus);§ Sound management and leadership acumen, with demonstrated success in leading, developing and training staff in a supportive environment;§ Proven organizational discipline and administrative skills in planning work, meeting team deadlines, enforcing and improving processes and controls, and managing budgets; and§ Strong history of teamwork and people skills in communicating and collaborating with peers, external service providers, and senior management to prioritize and deliver multiple Company objectives.§ Previous experience with the technology industry and/or using SAP will be considered a major plus.The position will be located in Raleigh, North Carolinaand a competitive compensation package will be offered consistent with the successful candidate’s capabilities.Travel Required:  Minimal travel Position Type:  Full Time, Employee Relocation assistance:  In Country,  Homebase Eligible:  NO Shift:  Day/First Shift Business Unit:  Finance
