The WebSphere Application Server/WebSphere Portal Administrator will be responsible for the deployment and support of applications and web services on servers and devices used by LabCorp to meet business needs. The engineer will be involved in the testing and migration of changes to production. The WAS/Portal Administrator will work closely with other members of the ESI/Web Tech team to manage and troubleshoot the Websphere Portal environment, applications, and resources, and will share in the on-call support rotation. In addition, the WAS/Portal Administrator will work closely with the development teams, interface design teams, and the business stakeholders to ensure appropriate growth of the LabCorp corporate Portal.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-24 X 7 support of LabCorp production web environments
-support of development and staging environments for web and portal application
-deploying application changes to production
-monitoring web servers for intrusion detection
-applying security related patches to web related services
-production of reports related to web activity
-evaluation and installation of 3rd party products on servers
-administration of portal, web and application services
-troubleshooting technical issues in a variety of environments
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Apache and / or IIS administration
Experience with relational databases
Experience with web page development
Experience with Linux and / or Windows server administration
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Job Requirements
Normally requires a B.S. Degree. Requires 2 - 5 years experience with WebSphere Application Server administration.

Description:
Basic Functions: To perform all functions required in the development of JSR-168 compatible portal applications as well as J2EE applications. To develop technical documentation. To track project status and determine and take corrective action when required. To update all involved personnel and key contacts regularly. To provide support for production applications.
Principal Functions: Design, develop, test, and implement JSR-168 Portal based applications using WebSphere RAD 6 and above.
Proven Web Services and Web Service Client development experience.
Design, develop, test, and implement IBM Portal 6 based Portal applications.
Proven Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) experience.
Troubleshoot problems. Assist in development and definition of technical specifications for applications.
This position requires strong analysis and communication skills, and experience playing key roles on multiple system development project teams with a proven history of delivering high quality work, on-time and within budget. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor Degree with three - five years experience in the following:
Java J2EE, IBM WebSphere Development Tools, JSR-168 IBM Portal Development, web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, Ajax and Web Services), all aspects of application design, development, testing and implementation, relational database concepts, design, SQL, and application development.
Basic knowledge of application design principles, practices, development methodologies (preferably OO) and software life cycles. Ability to work in team based environment, multi-task, prioritize tasks and communicate status to team members and management. Occasional extended work hours, including evenings and weekends, will also be required to complete projects with deadlines.
Skills Required: Other Skills:
Preferred Skills: Experience in the following: Microsoft .net based technologies, Spring framework, various database back ends; DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, Web Service development, Java script, Ajax, MVC frameworks such as JSF and Struts.
