Chief Operating Officer

Our client is a well respected, aggressively growing, privately held transportation and logistics company with revenues of $6 million and a fleet of 25 power units.  This is an excellent opportunity for the Chief Operating Officer in the headquarters in South Central Pennsylvania.

 

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

As the Chief Operating Officer, this individual is responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the company.  Assists the CEO in the aggressive and successful growth of the company.  Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company, the COO provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

 

RESPONSIBILITIESProvide day-to-day leadership and management to all company operations functions.  These include warehousing, shipping, operations, materials management, supply chain, facilities management, marketing, information technology, etc. Responsible for driving the operations functions to support the company sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives. Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external.  Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company. Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes. Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization. Motivate and lead a high performance management team;  attract, recruit & retain required members of the operations management team not currently in place;  provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Strong leadership and organizational skills Excellent project management skills Superior communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively address all levels within the organization 10+ years experience in a Senior Operations Management position Business acumen and mastery of budgeting, finances Knowledge of transportation and logistics preferred but not required Experience with multi-site, multi-state, and multi-country management Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and aptitudes
