Lean Safety Coordinator LSC-GD

Job Description:

The Lean & Safety Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the integrity and application of the Menlo Lean and Safety initiatives within the Columbus area warehouse operations. Position will be responsible for communication concerning any safety incidents and their root causes; also responsible for training of all safety policies.  Assist with, take part in, and facilitate all Lean implementation & continuous improvement activities.  Interface with all levels of management regarding Lean-related proceedings and maintain all applicable documents.  The position will report to the Site Manager(s).

The Coordinator will be the initial/primary contact point for safety problem resolution and Lean related site activities. Additional responsibilities include, OSHA record keeping at the facility, new hire safety orientation, and safety process development in conjunction with our Safety department. Responsible for performing floor safety and 5S walks, leading site safety and lean teams and daily floor safety observations. Coordinator will communicate with several internal departments, as well as the customer and external suppliers.  Coordinator will also be responsible for achieving pre-determined goals in multiple safety and Lean oriented areas.

Coordinator will assign duties to Lean and Safety team members and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to established Menlo and customer policies and procedures. Coordinator must have strong problem solving, communication, computer, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

Safety & Security

Problem analysis

Provide leadership of safety rules to all associates and management

Provide best practices in safety applications

Prepare complete safety reports to customer and internal management

Communicate and resolve all issues relating to safety and report to management any concerns

Perform root cause analysis for any safety incidents and report findings.

OSHA and MSDS Regulations -Warehouse compliance

Safety program experience and oversight

Worker's Compensation

Site Security & Risk Management

Manage the safety goals and expectations of our customer

Train associates on Safety, Lean and all functional area responsibilities

Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training/safety records as required.

Lean

Increase personal Lean skill-set (on-going).

Advance level of Lean understanding & application of principles throughout the operation.

Shape scope of improvement efforts and adherence to CIR’s (Continuous Improvement Roadmaps).

Facilitate Kaizen events & meetings; ensure disciplined adherence to Kaizen Process.

Assist with development and completion of Kaizen Forms & A3 Reporting.

Coordinate implementation efforts, communicate, garner support, and ensure resource availability.

Provide necessary support during improvement activities.

Maintain records & supporting documentation files.

Design & maintain visual controls throughout the facility.

Support Lean assessment process & planning requirements.

Promote a lean work environment.

Experience : This Position requires 2-4 years supervisory/safety/lean experience (Education may substitute for years of experience) providing overall direction, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and lean solutions in all phases of warehousing.

Education : Associates degree preferred. Experience may substitute for education; High School Diploma or GED required.
