The Logistics Account Manager is a leadership position that has responsibility for the success and profitability of multiple accounts. The span of control ranges from assisting in the initial customer discussions, presentation and proposals through implementation and ongoing operations. This role will have relationships with both internal and external customers as well as vendors.
The position is responsible for:Assisting the sales team in presenting information to potential customers about implementation, operating processes, our Transportation Management technology and prior experience in successful implementations. This includes anticipating and understanding customers’ strategic and tactical questions and in turn articulating responses to the customer.Assisting Dir/VP Transportation & Logistics and the sales team to develop a comprehensive solution to meet the customers’ needs and ensure operational and functional department success.Leading and integrating new accounts by understanding and adhering to customer requirements within the established timeline and scope. This includes the development of the concept of operations, the outline of the workflow and the configuration of the transportation management system.Analyzing and recommending broad based innovative improvement initiatives for the account(s) with a focus on eliminating root causes of recurring issues which leads to driving down costs and/or improving service.Using professional judgment to assess the impact of decisions/actions on the customer and GENCO.Balancing the customers’ needs with our company’s profitability.Managing, reporting and analyzing key performance indicators and preparing budgets and forecasts on a routine basis.Building customer relationships at various levels within the customer and supporting the transportation operations team to ensure customer satisfaction.Evaluating standard operating procedures, business rules and work processes to enhance communication, transfer information, and produce results.Interviewing and selecting new teammates while leading, managing and developing 8-10 teammates to include Logistics Operations Managers, Lead Logistics Service Representative and Logistics Service Representatives. Assisting in the development and maintenance of the account plan to ensure sustainability of our services and expand our solution set.Training and/or coordinating training of operations teams on all processes and systems.Managing and/or overseeing all day to day operations of the account(s).
Required Skills
The successful candidate will have:Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience and a minimum 4+ years of relevant transportation/logistics work experience.Proven ability within logistics, operations, customer service, and project management. Intermediate Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and Excel experience strongly preferred.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective customer and teammate relationships.Implementation and advanced problem solving skills.Effective leadership, team building, mentoring, and oral/written communication skills. Ability to deal with centralized and decentralized teammates.Sterling TMS execution and Sterling TMS Org Setup experience strongly preferred or advanced experience in another TMS system.Travel up to 50% depending on start-ups.
