Shift Supervisor

Jacobson Companies is seeking a Shift Supervisor for the Nashville, TN operation.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the warehousing industry along with a demonstrated desire, drive and leadership skills required for an effective supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist managers with coordination of distribution duties, managing groups of people, training new employees, help to maintain quality, sanitation, production standards, inventory control, ensure policy and procedures are in place, and communicate to first-line employees in a chemical warehouse.



 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Assign daily staffing to work areas.



2. Direct and monitor the work and quality of associates.



3. Train new employees.



4. Implementation and design of work methods and procedures to increase productivity and improve service.



5. Motivate employees to ensure predetermined productivity, costs and quality standards are achieved.



6. Maintaining thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.



7. Interview job applicants with recommendation of hiring.



8. Monitor the paperwork completion of forklift operators, clerical staff and laborers.



9. Maintain inventory control.



10.  Enforce company policies and procedures with associates.



11.  Interaction with customers, vendors, employees and other management staff.



12.  Assist with cost analysis, labor projects and other new projects.



13.  Perform other duties as assigned.



 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



1. Walk up to 800 ft. on regular basis.



2. Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to speak English.



3. Ability to communicate with all levels.



4. Effective use of analytical and administrative skills.



5. Ability to use computer to develop correspondence, spreadsheets and data entry.



6. Ability to drive a forklift.

7. Ability to learn functions on the AS400 and/ or PC.

8. Previous experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
