Sr Financial Analyst
Responsible for executing accounting policies and reviewing and analyzing operational activity related to the Company’s largest asset, inventory. Leads development of field related procedures to achieve inventory accuracy. Reports unacceptable or extraordinary activity to Controller’s and Operations Teams senior management. Responsible for analysis, management and multi-team coordination of special projects related to inventory accuracy and/or reporting under the direction of the Manager, Financial inventory. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Inventory.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Reviews and analyzes daily inventory movement as reported by the Distribution Centers. Communicates with appropriate Distribution Center teammates to better understand the nature of the movement and as required, coaches Distribution Center on any subsequent required corrections.2. Reviews and analyzes key account activity for month-end financial statement preparation. Communicates with appropriate Home Office and Distribution Center teammates during analytical review process to ensure accuracy of reported data. Prepares monthly journal entries and any related schedules, as required.3. Identifies, develops and reviews training materials and tools to ensure training is up-to-date and relevant. Provides DC training through the auspices of OMU to ensure inventory accuracy and reconciliation outcomes.4. Works with Assistant Controller (Operations) and Financial Inventory Team to develop and implement procedures and processes to drive inventory accuracy and ensure a fully reconciled perpetual-to-financial system.5. Provides Financial Inventory Team support for special projects and strategic initiatives, ex. DC and ISC set-up and closure, new business processes.Also assumes primary responsibility for at least one of the following:6. Provides analytical support of IT change requests, strategic initiatives, and system conversions. Monitors progress of Financial Inventory Team IT problem tickets to successful conclusion. Validates outcomes related to all inventory-related IT undertakings. Represents Financial Inventory Team on warehouse management user group.7. Reviews and confirms accuracy of submitted interim and year-end P/I count valuation, by DC. Analyzes material count variances and reconciliation recounts. Calculates and updates count valuation for extraordinary issues, ex. consigned, bill and hold activity. Collaborates with Home Office Operations to trouble-shoot problems and improve future count results.8. Publishes monthly Inventory Adjustment to Perpetual to field. Identifies problem DCs requiring additional analysis and mentoring. Reviews and validates all related inventory cut-off processes for correct accounting and analysis treatment. Calculates and analyzes components and root causes of over/(short) results. Works with Team management to develop and implement required action plans to improve future results.9. Reviews and analyzes proactive cycle count program results. Provides recommendations to management with respect to development, on-going process, and DC participation. Provides coaching to DC participants through appropriate methodologies. Prepares and publishes monthly results communications to DC, Area, and Home Office management.10. Reviews and analyzes company-wide Buyback activity to ensure adherence to published Procedures. Works with DC management to resolve non-compliance. Elevates issues to Controller’s and Operations Team management as required. Coordinates approval process with Corporate Controller. SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs additional duties as directed. EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS: General office equipment to include PC. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:Inside working conditions. No environmental hazards indicated for this classification. Some travel required (3-5 times a year).QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:Broad knowledge of a discipline such as chemical, distribution, electrical, or mechanical engineering, behavioral science, finance or business administration. Equal to a complete 4 year college or university education. CPA or CMA preferred, but not required.B. WORK EXPERIENCE:Five to seven years professional accounting, analysis, and operations experience.C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Ability to discern errors within highly complex or detailed work. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines. Ability to develop business solutions. Ability to collaborate across teams. Ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with internal customers. Intermediate PC skills, Microsoft Word and Excel required, Access preferred.
