Buyer

This position reports to a Sr. Manager within the Purchasing Department. Responsible for developing, bidding, negotiating and administering orders and contracts with suppliers for various systems and capital equipment as requested. Buyer position is responsible for all related aspects of the selection and procurement of MRO and related dock supplies and capital equipment for 500+ FedEx Ground, Home Delivery and SmartPost locations across the US and Canada.

Candidate must have a general understanding of contracts, negotiating and general commercial terms. Strong interpersonal skills required. The ability to work on a Project team involving other stakeholder groups such as Legal, Accounting, AP, Tax, Cash, etc... requried. Must be able to manage numerous tasks at the same time in order to successfully accomplish goals in a changing environment. Candidate must be a self started with the ability to create statements of work and market baskets for competitive bidding, perform analysis of alternatives and provide solutions. Must be able to develop, negotiate and execute contracts. Intermediate to advanced level Excel and Access skills required. Lotus Notes and Peoplesoft skills preferred.

EDUCATION:


Mandatory requirement:  Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management or related degree.
Preferred requirement:  MBA in Supply Chain Management
Considered equivalent related experience:  10+ Years direct experience in a purchasing department for the procurement of MRO supplies.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum year(s) of experience in the following areas:
2-5 years experience in a direct purchasing role with demonstrated experience in establishing / negotiating blanket agreements for MRO equipment and supplies.
