Custodian (Part-time/Seasonal)

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is currently accepting applications for part-time custodians in the Visitor Services Department. The Custodians will maintain sanitary conditions of assigned areas to include public areas, as well as office areas.  The qualified candidates for these positions will conduct cleaning in assigned areas to include vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning bathrooms, maintain sanitary conditions of the non-public and public restrooms within the zoo grounds, and order supplies for bathrooms and distribute accordingly.  Other responsibilities include picking up trash on the zoo grounds and preparing work orders for repairs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma preferred; Prior Custodial experience preferred; Must have valid driver’s license; Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including telephone, radio and cleaning tools; Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, climb and balance; Must be able to walk large areas of the Zoo as needed; Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons; and, Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
