GIS TECHNICIAN

 

Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. is the largest privately owned waste collection and recycling company in the state. We are currently seeking a GIS Technician with in-depth knowledge of GIS concepts and versatility in GIS mapping, spatial data analysis and manipulation, and spreadsheet and database applications. We are seeking a goals-oriented, highly motivated individual looking for a solid professional growth opportunity.

 

Successful candidate will have a BS Degree or GIS Certificate from a higher education institution in a GIS related field. Applicants should have 1-3 years of working experience in GIS cartographic/mapping applications such as MapInfo, as well as experience in spreadsheets, and database applications. Good verbal and written communication skills are required as well as  willingness and ability to learn new skills.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:Quantitative modeling experience and familiarity with GIS technology and scripting languages (MapInfo/MapBasic).Experience using Microsoft Office, SQL, Access.Ability to manage medium to large complex technical projects.Strict attention to details.Position will at times involve varied tasks on multiple, simultaneous projects – excellent time management skills are required.Conceptualizing and designing moderately complex databases, including designs that incorporate spatial data.
