Water Plant Operator IV (Full-Time; Unaccompanied)

 

This position is located in the Marshall Islands. You must be willing to relocate.

 

Responsibilities: Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in the English language. Knowledge sufficient to use mathematics to perform calculations required for the job.  Ability to use logic in troubleshooting problems.  Ability to follow written procedures.  Ability to perform consistent high quality laboratory work.  Personal integrity, honesty, consistency, reliability, and self-motivation a must.  Must be a team player able to effectively work with the operators, maintenance personnel, distribution personal, and personal from various outside departments.  Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.  Ability and willingness to work outside in hot, humid, conditions.  Vision correctable to 20/40.  Performs other duties as assigned. 

Specific Responsibilities: Operates and performs preventative maintenance to the Outer Island Water Plants independent of direct supervision.  Correctly makes chemical dose adjustments in response to changing water quality parameters.  Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to water plant equipment including, but not limited to, chemical injection pumps and analytical equipment.  Learns and adheres to all water quality regulations and company policies.  Helps maintenance staff identify and repair major mechanical problems. Cleans and organizes the plants, keeps the process running smoothly, is the sole operator on shift, utilizes time effectively and efficiently, and is alert and responsible to anticipate problems.  Accurately keeps operating records, adjusts plant processes, orients new employees to the plant, and performs accurate lab analysis. Leads and mentors less experienced personnel.  Operates the Kwajalein Water Plant, Reverse Osmosis, and Liquid Nitrogen Plants on rotating shifts, as needed.  Plans and executes all work in a safe manor at all times.  Submits reports pertaining to compliance of water treatment systems using Microsoft Word and Excel.  Completes technical, fiscal, procurement, and research tasks as assigned.  Periodically perform the duties of the Water Plant Supervisor in his absence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MandatoryRequires high school diploma or equivalent.Possess a Level 2 Water Treatment Operator License.Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word programs.Possess strong written and oral communication skills.5 years previous experience as a Level 1 Water Treatment Operator.Possess leadership qualities and ability to direct up to 13 employeesPossess a positive, proactive attitude.

PreferredPossess a Level 4 Water Treatment Operator License, or greaterMechanical knowledge and the skills to repair plant equipmentPossess a 4 year biology or chemistry degree
