Account Manager - Industrial Products

Account Manager

Casper, WY

In Brief:

This position offers you the opportunity to leverage your familiarity with bearings, fluid power, and/or power transmission components and take your sales career to the next level. We enjoy a strong position in this market. You will come into an area where strong customer relationships have already been fostered. You'll also partner with an experienced inside sales team that has strong product, vendor, and system knowledge.

We'll look to you to take a solutions-oriented consultative selling approach, getting to know your customers' industries and applications, and making value added recommendations that will help them meet their goals, such as increased productivity and reduced costs. In addition, you'll prospect and pursue new accounts, and respond to priority calls from customers who need parts right away. To be a good fit for this position you'll need a strong interest (though not necessarily expertise) in technical and mechanical products and applications and the ability to interact effectively with customers and Applied team members.

Applied Industrial Technologies, which has been named to Forbes magazine's 2005 Platinum 400 List of Best Big Companies in America, is one of North America's largest independent distributors of bearings, power transmission components, fluid power components and systems, industrial rubber products, linear components, tools, safety products, general maintenance and a variety of mill supply products.

What's in It for You

Career development -- we'll make multiple training resources available to you regarding both sales and product/industry knowledge, including coaching from internal experts, vendor-presented "lunch 'n' learn" sessions, corporate sponsored training, online resources, and both informal and formal vendor offered courses.

Stability and values -- at Applied, our core values (Honesty, Integrity, Fairness, Openness, Quality Dedication, Promise Keeping, Personal Mastery) are more than just words on paper; they are embraced throughout the company. We also enjoy a robust financial picture. For example, for our fiscal year ended June 30, 2006, we recorded sales of $1.9 billion.

Autonomy and flexibility -- assuming you're meeting your targets; you'll enjoy a good deal of flexibility in managing your schedule.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive base plus incentive plan, you'll have a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, an educational assistance program, product discounts, and more.

More About Your Role

Your activities will include:

· Engaging in extensive customer contact to conduct sales and service activities, including developing strong customer relationships, introducing new products, identifying product applications, and keeping customers informed of product developments.

· Preparing quotations and proposals, following up, and closing transactions.

· Utilizing promotions, campaigns, and business contacts to seek out prospective accounts, and then introducing the company and products, establishing and cultivating a contact, and analyzing the prospect's needs.

· Organizing and conducting training sessions for customers; surveying the market and competitive conditions; and completing reports regarding itineraries, expenses, sales calls, leads and other information.

· Monitoring customer complaints, following up on outstanding orders, and making emergency calls, night calls, and deliveries as required.

If a customer is in a breakdown situation, we respond, meaning that you'll need to be flexible in your daily schedule. You'll stop in at the office periodically to check email and gather materials, and then spend the majority of the day in the field.

Keys to Success

Our most successful sales professionals are those who acquire and maintain a solid knowledge of our products as well as of our customers' industries and applications for our products. To excel in this role you will exercise solid organization and time management skills, including following up and tracking lots of "loose ends" out on the road. You'll also take a proactive approach to growing the business, including increasing penetration in existing accounts and identifying and "landing" new prospects.

If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
