About the position:

Must haves:

Must have wholesale distribution experience in controlling an inventory for resale.

Must have experience managing a small company, where the few do the jobs of many.

Must be a multi-talented and multi-tasking entrepreneurial business manager in accounting, finance, order entry, warehousing, operations and administration.

Must have operations management experience along with financial experience.

Must have 5-7 years in accounting and minimum of two years as Controller.

Must have held the job title of Controller, VP of Finance or Chief Financial Officer within the last two years.

Must have experience and ability requires to take charge the first day.

This is not a position for those who have aspirations to be a Controller without the experience. There is no training program for this position and the lack of ability will be evident quickly.

Requirements:

1) Bachelor Degree in accounting from a recognized and accredited USA college or university.

2) 5 to 7 years experience in inventory control in wholesale distribution or related similar industry.

3) Experience in small company management with responsibilities to direct, coordinate and supervise the total accounting, order entry, warehousing and administrative functions.

4) Job encompasses the normal Controller functions of A/P, A/R, Billing, Inventory management as well as financial management to include sales tax, insurance, payroll management, sales analysis, pricing and financial statements.

5) Excellent job employment history including attendance and tenure are required, as this is a small company environment where each individual is of prime importance in the daily functioning of the company.

6) Ideal candidate would have the necessary job skills to oversee the management of the warehouse supervisor and the associated staff.

Like to haves:

MAS90 experience including Crystal Reports

Warehouse operations experience

Music Instrument wholesale distribution industry experience

Qualified individual to direct, coordinate and supervise the accounting function in a small, rapidly growing company, reporting directly to the President.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Full responsibility for GL, A/R, A/P, Inventory and Payroll

Monthly closing, financial statements, account reconciliation

Collections of A/R balances

Prompt payment of vendors and vendor reconciliations

Control purchasing levels of inventory

Order processing

Starting wages will be based solely on related work experience, job tenure, and required education. Advancement is rapid and pay increases can be structured with your involvement of company growth. Please note: Past earnings in unrelated fields are not considered as a benchmark for this position.

Benefits:

5% of your starting base wage will be provided for benefits which will be self directed. We also offer paid vacation, holidays, education reimbursement, employee purchase programs, etc.

Other job information:

Office is located near John Wayne Airport.

You must live within 30 miles of the John Wayne (Orange County Airport) in Irvine, CA. We do not pay relocating cost and only will interview candidates residing in the immediate area.

Who are we?

A segment of a 118 year old established musical instrument company.

Kay Guitar is a guitar company specializing in first time, entry level, beginner fretted instruments (guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, etc.) established in 1890. Our sales have been primarily to distributors, OEM's and export/import of musical instruments and accessories. In 2003 we have started a new division selling to retail music stores, which are often small mom and popshops. All sales are made though inside sales reps servicing accounts nationwide from Irvine, CA. We are small but growing rapidly with double-digit sales growth.

Why is this position open?

Our current controller is retiring in a few months and we are seeking his replacement.
