Location: JFK Office, Queens NY
Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for the overall profitability of the Summit JFK station. The position is accountable for managing cost and overhead of the office in support of delivering a high level of customer service to the clients handled in the office and to the sales team positioning business in this station.
This position must strictly follow the import process as defined within the guiding Customer Import Ocean Standard Operating Procedure and must seek all best practices to ensure company costs are minimized to the fullest extent and while at the same time maximizing customer satisfaction.
Fundamental Duties/Responsibilities:
· Preparation and maintaining SOP’s
· Oversee the opening and closing all shipment files in a timely manner.
· Update and validate E-Cargo shipment details
· Validate all incoming documentation(Master B/L, House B/l, profit share statements, billing, etc.) for accuracy
· Ensure door deliveries are delivered to door-destination on time. Communicate directly with various service providers including carriers, brokers, terminals, warehouses, truckers and 3PL’s
· Ensure shipments(containers) are not released until all required import criteria have been satisfied (i.e. customs clearance, b/l endorsement and surrender, payment of collect charges in full)
· Communicate directly with customer and address all customer service related issues
· Communicate directly with origin office/agents concerning any origin service related issues
· Continual review of internal processes and procedures
· Highlight operational inefficiencies at either origin or destination to reduce servicing cost
· Define and recommend opportunities to improve any inefficiencies that may be occurring
· Maintain KPI’s relative to repeat service issues by origin office/agent and/or vendors.
· Communicate directly with US Customs concerning any customs hold/exams.
· Compliance with all regulations(US Customs, DOT, FDA, EPA)
· Liaise with accounting dept concerning profit share reconciliation
· Assisting in data connectivity projects for shipment visibility project (i.e. E-Freight FTP sight, tracking and resolving Carrier EDI-315 reject msgs)
· Detect E-Cargo application problems and work with I.T. Dept for problem resolution with E-Freight
· Work with Corp Ops and I.T. Dept in the development of new E-Cargo application requirements
· Work with Corporate Ops and I.T. Dept with Log-net programming initiatives
· Metrics management and KPI reporting in Lognet – our supply chain visibility product
· Ocean carrier rate negotiations and liaison with corporate pricing team
· Compliance with all corporate pricing guidelines in line with FMC regulations
· Carrier performance and KPI monitoring
· Agent selection and appointment in support of program management, liaison with corporate regulatory team for on-boarding of all agents
· Agent negotiations, profit share review and settlements
· Communicate strategic and operational objectives, coach on performance objectives, and provide developmental opportunities to direct reports
· Set operational goals and standards
· Measure and monitor result against standards, monitor deadlines and hold desk level employees accountable
· Implement procedures
· Communicate plans and objectives to direct reports
· Resolve issues, concerns, and grievances, through appropriate corrective action
· Appraising employees and making recommendations to senior management
· Maintain necessary staff levels
· Ensure the orientation and training of staff
· Coordinate and enforce programs, operational and personnel policies and procedures
· Comply with all Federal, State and Local legal requirements
· Maintain technical and professional proficiency
· Attend classes or educational workshops
· Review professional publications

Minimum Basic Requirements (Musts):
· 5 years industry management experience
· 5 years experience working for NVOCC (preferably) or steamship line within the Import Customer Service Dept.
· In depth understanding of NVOCC import and intermodal processes, bills of lading, arrival notices, profit share statements and US customs problem resolution
· Working knowledge of Internet based automated track and trace systems and functionality
· Professional attitude and attire
· Strong PC/System literacy essential
· 4-year college degree preferable
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to consistently meet deadlines
· Able to consistently follow instructions
· Proactive problem solving skills
· Process oriented
· Must be able to multi-task
· Must be willing and able to work closely in team environment. As well as being able to work independently when need be
· Able to travel: training and/or client meetings
Preferred Abilities or Specifications (Wants):
