Position Description:

Norandex Building Material Distribution is a $800 million unit of Saint-Gobain & is one of the largest distributor of vinyl siding in the U.S. The company operates branches in 37 states & sells exterior building products to new home builders & remodeling contractors in their respective territories. Primary products include vinyl siding; vinyl, wood & alum windows/doors; decking, fencing, & rain carrying gear. We are currently recruiting for a District Manager for our Binghamton, NY and Wilkes-Barre, PA locations.The District Manager is responsible for maximizing sales and profits at two or more company branches. This is accomplished through planning and managing sales, branch operations, delivery, administration and customer service.The incumbent reports to a General Manager while supervising a combination of the following:Sales RepresentativesWarehouse LeaderBranch Operations Mgr. Sales Support SpecialistsCustomer Service Rep. Truck DriverWarehouse Person Office StaffDuties and Responsibilities·Implements and manages the S.M.A.R.T. Selling Plan at all branches in the District.·Prepares annual sales and operating budget proposals for the branches and assigned territory.·Assures proper inventory control, expense control and margins on all products sold through the branches.·Coordinates sales distribution by establishing and assigning territories and goals to sales representatives. Plans and directs sales programs by evaluating competition, developing new markets, using sales aids, and promotional programs. Actively participates in selling activities and actions.·Trains, coaches, and advises sales representatives on selling strategies and tactics. Also trains sales representatives on company products, features and proper installation procedures.·Analyzes sales statistics to help sales representatives enhance their sales figures. Develops sales campaigns in alignment with company goals.·Evaluates market analysis information to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules and discount rates.·Acts as liaison between the branches and other company departments.·Evaluates customer requests for service to determine cause for service request, type of problem and potential resolution.·Supervises preparation of schedules and the dispatching of service personnel as required.·Meets with customers, suppliers, sales representatives, warehouse leader and branch operations manager to evaluate and promote possibilities for expanded sales in the geographic area.·Selects, manages, trains, and evaluates performance of branch staff.·Assures a safe and healthful work environment by training branch employees in safe work practices, hazard identification and compliance with relevant OSHA standards.Essential Physical Requirements·Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and go into a customer’s office or job site. This will occasionally require the incumbent to traverse uneven terrain at a construction site.·Must be able to pick up and carry products of moderate weight in order to demonstrate the features to the customer.Environmental Factors·The functions of this position are usually performed in a climate-controlled office. However, the incumbent will occasionally make field sales calls at customers construction sites. On those occasions, they will be required to work in extremes of cold, heat and humidity depending on the season and location.Required Education, Experience and Skills·A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, management, finance or related field is preferred though not required.·Five years sales and operational leadership experience.·In addition, the incumbent must have strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to effectively supervise a diverse staff and interact appropriately with all customers, suppliers, and employees.
