Import Compliance Specialist

Established in 1968, Harbor Freight Tools is a fast growing, well established privately held retail company opening stores across the United States.  We currently operate over 270 stores in 44 states with plans to open over 30 stores per year.  We are seeking a Import Compliance Specialist to join our growing Imports Department in Oxnard, CA. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Interface with U.S. CBP to ensure all import procedures, documentation, and other government agency requirements are in compliance. Provide compliance support  for all Import purchases and guidance to Buyers regarding classification and duty rates Classify Import products to ensure proper compliance and cost planning. Work with Import Operations to ensure timely and accurate entry filing. Check documentation for accuracy and communicate with Buyers and Vendors to resolve discrepancies. Perform entry audits, reconcile discrepancies and submit post-entry adjustments. Maintain and develop other compliance tracking tools. Interface with Buyers and other Departments to provide guidance on Import issues. Request binding rulings and scope inquiries for product verification. Keep updated on all US Customs and other government agency compliance changes in regulations Oversee Import A/P processes. Read, analyze and interpret complex documents

Education and/or Experience:Must have working knowledge of HTSUS, CFRs and import documentation procedures 2-3 yrs experience required with customs house brokers
