Motor Carrier Dispatcher

NORTH PACIFIC is an employee owned, billion dollar company serving as one of the largest suppliers of building materials, hardwood and specialty products. We are actively recruiting for a forest products industry experienced Motor Carrier Dispatcher.

Job Summary:

This position finds and qualifies flatbed/dry van carriers and negotiates a competitive market rate for each haul. A typical day may consist of finding and securing carriers to haul 20 – 100 loads from different suppliers to customers’ locations. The entire life cycle of dispatching activities include creating daily loads sheet, procuring trucking capacity, tendering freights to carriers, entering shipping information into order management system, confirming pickup time and providing delivery updates for each load to internal customers. Other duties will include updating freight rate for each line haul into a master database and work on projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:5+ years of dispatching trucks for forest products industryCurrent and extensive knowledge in trucking and flatbed carrier base; well networked with extensive contacts to achieve timely and cost effective loadsStrong skills and experience in rate negotiation, building carrier relationship and resolving damage claimsExcellent in customer service skillsAbility to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts, verbally and in writingAbility to pay attention to detail with accuracy and ability to follow throughStrong math skillsProficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, OutlookComfortable working with various business (computer) systemsAbility to travel occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of dispatching trucks for forest products industry BA/BS Business or related field
