Product Development Manager

Home Textile Importer/Distributor with large Mass Merchant business seeks Merchandiser/Designer to head up Product Development. You will be responsible for managing the entire product development process including but not limited to concept/design, color trend (including lab dips and final color approval) and vendor selection. You must regularly shop the market and competition and meet with Sales/Marketing to ensure that we are developing product that is right for our customers and to provide updates on all products in development.  You must be comfortable making customer presentations as well as developing plan-o–grams to support sales. You will manage 2 in house artists and have the support of a product development coordinator. You will work directly with overseas vendors and must be willing to travel to China 2-3 times per year in addition to visiting Fabric and Gift shows domestically.You will report to the SR VP of Design and the President of the Company. You must have at least 5 years experience in this area.
