An ideal candidate will possess purchasing experience in the building and or roofing materials industry along with a comprehensive knowledge of distribution practices on a wholesale level. Primary Function To manage stocked item inventory for certain product lines across branches within a region. A secondary function is to work with Branch and Regional managers to insure that inventory levels of stocked items are ideal for meeting the company's goals for gross profit return on inventory. Key Responsibilities • Sets forecast approach and re-ordering parameters for all stock items for the product lines and branches assigned (ICSW set up) • Provides input to Branch and Regional managers regarding status changes on items (i.e. • Stock status to Order as Needed status) • Monitors excess inventory situations as demand changes • Takes appropriate action to maintain target turnover (OHGT reports, etc) • Uses the purchase order RRAR and warehouse transfer RRAR on a daily basis to create replenishment orders • Determines if surpluses exists at other branches in the region prior to ordering from vendor • Keeps branch managers informed of slow moving inventory and disposition required inventory • Optimizes freight and material costs through load building and routing when feasible • Evaluates discount opportunities and determine optimum buy quantities to maximize gross profit return on inventory for branch level buys • Provides inventory department analysis and approval on all branch level stock purchases that result in non-reserved inventory exceeding three months projected usage • Performs other duties as assigned Professional Skills • Product line knowledge • Communication skills both verbal and written • Analysis and decision making skills Experience • One to three years purchasing, inventory management or distribution For quick consideration apply here
