We are seeking an experienced professional to assist our Plant Manager with the coordination of our manufacturing activities. This position requires a thorough understanding of GMP’s specific to the meat industry, strong leadership skills and knowledge of the TQM process. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of food production and manufacturing along with an engineering background and education. This position will interact with a variety of employees, supervisors and managers throughout Boar’s Head and plays a critical role in our overall manufacturing capabilities and performance standards. I. Job Summary

Directs and coordinates the activities of the plant to include meat manufacturing, sanitation and distribution (but not limited to) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

II.  Essential Functions

1.  Take all measures to ensure distributor/customer total satisfaction.

2.  Supervise daily operations of 1st shift manufacturing operations for the plant.

3.  Directs subordinates engaged in production, sanitation, cooking and chilling.

4.  Build and maintain an effective supervisory team.

5.  Exercises good leadership and communication skills.

6.  Ensure effective production teams and team building.

7.  Ensure all production requirements are met.

8.  Analyze operation on a continual basis to improve costs, quality and service.

9.  Build an effective relationship with internal and external customers.

10.  Actively participate in the research, justification, and implementation in long-range planning of the facility.

11.  Establish goals for yourself and the operation.

12.  Actively participate/support in the management of department functions that include the following: Production Scheduling, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, Area Sanitation, Heat Processing, Product Chilling and other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

13.  Assist in the training and development of all employees in area of responsibility, specifically Supervisors and Lead Persons.

14.  Ensure all sanitary, quality and consistency requirements are met in area of responsibility.

15.  Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of Total Quality Management (TQM) process.

16.  Ensure goal attainment in area of responsibility.

17.  Direct and enforce the Safety Program in area of responsibility.

18.  Actively participate in capital expenditure requisitioning process, budgeting and goal setting.

19.  Ensure required preventive maintenance is being performed on all department equipment.

20.  Ensure all rules, policies and regulations of Company are enforced.

21.  Oversees the 1st shift support groups such as security, human resources, quality systems, maintenance, distribution and first aid to ensure that there are good working relationships.

22.  Approves 1st shifts time keeping and distributes payroll.

23.   Responsible to work with the 2nd Night Manager on control of chemicals and the dollars involved.

24.   Attend the staff meeting on a daily basis and be a part of conducting the daily Supervisors meeting.

25.   Ensure smooth transition and communication system is in place between shifts.

 

III. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or knowledge equivalent to such degree is required.

Five (5) to seven (7) years related industry experience required, preferably in food plant sanitation, smokehouse operations and meat-processing production 

Exposure to and/or experience in Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management (TQM), Hazard Analysis Control Critical Process (HACCP) and Safety are a plus. 

English/Spanish bilingual would be a plus.
