Human Resource Specialist/Generalist

JOB OBJECTIVE:  Recruit new employees, assist newly hired employees through the hire process; administer the 401-k program, and process the paperwork associated with employee terminations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1. Work with the Employment Specialist in finding and reviewing candidates for all open positions within the Salt Lake Facility. 

2. Initiate background searches of applicants and current employees for promotions.  Collect, analyze and communicate this information to the Manager of HR and/or the Employment Specialist.  Sends all correspondence to applicants with adverse background information in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act; file and track all background paperwork. Process billing from background check provider.

3. Keeps and organizes drug-testing forms for all locations, including the positive drug tests.  Processes bills for drug testing company and collection facilities.  Prepares list for random drug tests at all company locations each month.  Coordinate with department manager/supervisor to set up times for employees to take random drug tests.  Track all employees who need follow up drug testing.

4. Provide applicants with necessary new hire paperwork; collect and process the forms; maintain I-9 forms and documentation on all employees.

5. Processes paperwork on terminated employees.  Including, but not limited to: obtaining approval signature from Manager of HR, pulling personnel and medical files, mailing exit interviews, and informing the HR Generalist (Benefits) of which employees need COBRA notice/insurance termination sent.

6. With the Employment Specialist, coordinates the scheduling of the new employee orientation.  Conducts new employee orientation. Responsible for updating all orientation material.

7. Coordinate and process paperwork for the 401-k retirement plan.  Provide information and help for employees on the plan.  Process and handle 401-k loans.

8. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

9. Attendance is an essential function of the job.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related field; or two-three years experience in Human Resources; or any appropriate combination of education and experience.

2. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner which enables the employee to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

9. Must maintain a professional level of human relations.
