Job Purpose Statement:

Perform general mechanic maintenance & minor electrical repairs to all plant facilities and equipment. Assist with production equipment setup and changeover, as needed. In this position the employee will work in different areas with different equipment. Participate in Total Productive Maintenance activities including but not limited to Autonomous Maintenance, Effective Maintenance and Focused Improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Understand equipment structure, function, and principle of operation, and interaction of systems to maintain, diagnose, and repair failures and abnormalities including mechanical, pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical. Scope work including identifying and requesting parts.

2. Perform Preventive Maintenance / Calibration on equipment.

3. Perform Breakdown Analysis or other Analysis tool to identify root cause for repetitive breakdowns or other losses.

4. Train line team members to diagnose problems and perform minor repairs and adjustment and/or train line team members in other TPM Training.

5. Lead and/or participate in TPM activities including AM, EM and FI.

Job Skills

• Ability to understand equipment structure, function, and principle of operation, and interaction of systems to maintain, diagnose, and repair failures and abnormalities including mechanical, pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical.
• Ability to document work, track changes (change management), and communicate changes to non-technical users and technical users.
• Ability to assist production personnel, as required, in equipment setup and changeover.
• Ability to interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance tasks on time in full resulting in improved equipment performance.
• Perform Corrective Maintenance (F-tags).
• Arc weld, braze, solder, and use gas torches for metal cutting and fabrication.
• Use hand and shop tools.
• Perform all work safely, using required PPE and permits, ensuring self and contractor compliance with plant, Unilever, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements including SHE and NFPA 70E.
• Maintain sanitary standards including clean workplace, HACCP, GMPs.
• Interpret data, identify problems, formulate, and implement proper decisions.
• Express ideas clearly (verbal and written) and ability to work from verbal and written instructions, manuals, wiring diagrams, work orders and specification.
• Ability to generate and analyze reports charts and KPI’s dealing with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Practice TPM.
• Scope Work, Identify and Requisition Parts.

Essential: Requires ability to understand structure, function, and principle of operation of all plant production and facility equipment, systems, and processes (e.g. formulation, CIP). Requires skills and experience in all areas of mechanical maintenance plus basic electrical. Requires understanding of PLCs, PLC troubleshooting, and minor programming changes. Work closely with production employees with minimal supervision. Assist and/or train operators in troubleshooting, Autonomous Maintenance, and Focused Improvement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership, initiative, and teamwork and have demonstrated results consistent with commitment to organizational goals. A proven track record of being customer service oriented. Maintain awareness of the Production Schedule to prioritize work, communicate effectively 360 degrees including with Engineering, Production, Logistics, Quality, et al.

Use and/or develop precision measuring instruments to deliver sustainable reliable equipment performance. Standardize and document maintenance practices and transfer to operators.

Perform project management. Lead teams, as required.

Ability to measure close tolerances and operate shop power tools and equipment.

Must have at least five years of maintenance / manufacturing related experience

Work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed.

Desirable: Basic (Maintainer) Controls skills and experience preferred

Physical Demand:
Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required.

Duties require frequent mental and visual attention where the flow of work is intermittent or the operation involves waiting for a machine or process to complete a cycle, with some checking.

Employee in this position needs to take reasonable care in performing own work to prevent injury to others.

Working Conditions:
Can be exposed to external and inside conditions, extremes of heat, wet, humid, noise, vibration, hazards and fumes, usually with noise being continuously present.

Hazards:
Injuries, should they occur, could result in loss of time due to fractures, eye injuries, etc.

Education and Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a technical trade school certificate program or equivalent skills and experience. Good written, verbal and mathematics skills required. Electrical and controls knowledge preferred.
