PROJECT ENGINEER
We are currently recruiting for an opportunity for a Project Engineer at our client located in the Memphis, TN area. Prefers local candidates only at this time.
A Project Engineer will be responsible for performing diverse engineering analysis, managing engineering projects and implementing process changes for operations such as machine capability evaluations, modifications of equipment, and developing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, and procedures to maximize efficiency and yields. Is responsible for traditional engineering project management including equipment evaluation, justifications, project accounting management and start-up of the operation.
The major responsibilities of a Project Engineer are:
1. Experienced in engineering project management from inception through completion. (Sequentially) Initiates concepts, develops designs, estimates costs, formulates justifications, coordinates installations, troubleshoots start-ups, writes operational and maintenance manuals and trains required personnel.
2. Initiates the investigation and analysis of new materials, equipment, processes and engineering practices for improved performance.
3. Prepares engineering computations, estimates, surveys, statistics and analysis.
4. Coordinates drawing files, CAD file management, process documentation and technical literature for library use.
5. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of capital project procedures and follows RPC directives and guidelines.
6. Assists in capital plan with conception and justifications.
7. Assists with writing procedures (SOPs) for the operation of new or existing equipment.
8. Helps in the coordination of major initiatives and new products with marketing and R&D.
9. Demonstrates an understanding of computer controls (SCADA and PLC systems) through troubleshooting and programming work. Responsible for analyzing the operational integrity of these systems, routine checks and calibrations while recording parameters for reference.
10. Assists other department’s efforts to provide technical training and guidance for better operations.
11. Represents the company's position and interest effectively in dealing with outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants as well as a constructive positive attitude within the facility.
12. Communicates effectively and informs operational leaders of related work through scheduling, plant and NWT meetings.
13. Site Safety, Environmental and GMP - Ensure high standards are developed, met, and maintained at the facility.
14. Preparation of reports and summaries as required (timely monthly reports).
15. Assists in follow-up of prototype construction with outside vendors.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:An Engineering degree with strong manufacturing discipline with a minimum of 5 years experience in the food (dairy a plus), pharmaceutical, and/or packaging industry. Understand the interrelationships of factors affecting a given situation and be attentive to detail. Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely manner. Able to arrange schedule for immediate corrective actions or support. Excellent communications skills, assertive and consultative management style – willing to be a leader, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, PC literate in spreadsheet, word processing, scheduling, and CAD. Ability to function as a liaison between the Engineering Team and the plant staff. Familiarity with all engineering disciplines. Knowledgeable of plant operations. Can obtain and use information from others. Can coordinate people and organizations toward a common goal. Can identify and correct problems in schedule, cost, communications, and priority during projects. Can innovate management solutions to problems and implementthem.
