Product Development Engineer
This position is in our Clinton, TN location. A division of Techmer PM, Techmer Lehvoss Compounds (TLC) is a custom compounder of thermoplastic resins for a world wide market. TLC creates unique and highly specialized thermoplastic compounds that are used in a wide variety of markets including aerospace, automotive, business machines, medical, mechanical devices, electronics manufacture, etc. When added functionality is needed, beyond the features that a native polymer can provide, TLC creates specialized composite formulas to improve and enhance those features. TLC modifies the strength, conductivity, lubricity, heat stability, and many other practical properties of thermoplastics.
The position of Product Development Engineer requires a hands-on team player that can adapt and respond quickly and positively in a fast paced work environment. Multi-tasking will be necessary along with effective communication both inside and outside the organization. This position offers a high level of exposure both inside the organization and in the marketplace. The individual will interact with customers (providing valuable information, technical support and data) and will also be active in product development through hands on product design, formulation, testing and characterization. Hands on training will be provided. TLC is a growing organization with considerable growth potential for the interested candidate.
Responsibilities:
• Direct contact with customers on technical questions, inquiries and information requests
• Responsible as a technical resource for TLC sales force;
• Initiation and management of development projects, problem solving, technical service, and customer satisfaction.
• Coordination of product testing and sample production. Includes creation of formulas, material cost development, and manufacturing / processing development.
• Testing, characterization and reporting of product results.
• Coordination of select Quality Management System items, including complaint resolution, processes administration, and supplier performance measurements.
• Coordination of ISO documentation and process implementation.
• Source of customer service, field sales staff and distribution sellers technical information.
• Participate in creation of technical data sheets other technical product literature.
• Additional responsibilities as defined and assigned by the Product Development Manager and General Manager.
Requirements:
•Bachelors Degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Plastics are appropriate)
•Ability to present data on variety of tests, comparing and contrasting results.
•Proficiency with personal computers and standard business / office software.
•Good written and verbal communication skills, including with customers, suppliers and internal personnel in a fast paced environment.
•Ability to effectively plan and schedule, and to be capable of handling multiple issues/tasks simultaneously. Prioritize issues/tasks effectively.
•Excellent people skills and the ability to thrive in an exciting and growing business environment.
•Knowledge of thermoplastics a plus.
