Product Line Manager opportunity

Our client globally manufactures, markets and distributes value/private label wet shaving razors and blades; bladed hand tools and blades; specialty industrial blades; and medical scalpels, razors and blades.

 

The Industrial Division within specifically manufactures disposable industrial blades that fit equipment for thousands of industrial, professional, and technical applications.

 

Our client has been in business for over 125 years. The Company traces its origins to Brooklyn, New York, where in 1875 the two brothers introduced the first safety razor manufactured in the United States. Today, they have manufacturing facilities located around the world and is one of the largest producers of shaving, medical, and industrial blades. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITYResponsible for New Product Development and Research Process, Design and Development of Sales Support Materials, Product Line Rationalization, Packaging Development, and Sales/Margin analysis of all new items to support achievement of the Division’s annual sales and financial objectives.  Maintains interface with other departments on behalf of the Industrial Division as directed.  Responsible for managing full product line to maximize sales and profitability. Must identify the core product line, manage new products into line and rationalize late life cycle products.  Manages new product development from research, product ideation, ID, engineering, packaging and commercial plans for trade execution.  Must be able to develop and execute a full strategic plan incorporating all areas of the business. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Develop NEW product plans by product line.

·  Supervise all aspects of new products introduction upon approval.

·  Responsibility for analysis of forecast and sales progress plans

·  Develop and manage all necessary sales materials, coordinate program pricing and general

price maintenance.

·  Coordination of internal efforts with all other departments to implement marketing plans,

product introduction, cost estimates and cost review.

·  Monitor and coordinate the efforts of suppliers as assigned to implement marketing plan.

·  Assist in planning and execution of national trade shows in regards to new products/product

line extensions.

·  Monitor and track competitive pricing programs, new products, etc.

·  Responsible for pricing and programs of assigned product lines.

·  Special marketing and trade projects as assigned.

·  Assist in development/execution of presentations of new products to key accounts.

·  Responsible for assigned product lines.

·  Ongoing development of source US direct manufacturing plans.

EDUCATION

·  Four year college degree, Masters degree preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

·  Three or more years experience in product management, program development, and marketing

analysis, sales systems; preferably in related categories. 

·  Must have proven track record of results.

 

SKILLS

·  Planning, systems, and communication skills (written and oral) problem solving capabilities. 

·  Basic cost accounting and mathematics abilities.  Strong tracking and follow-up skills. 

·  Expertise in MS Powerpoint, Excel and Word.

·  Strong entrepreneurial skill set.

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

·  In depth knowledge of major national and international trade customers; experience in product sourcing, strategy planning, development of capital plans, printing, packaging and display production.

·  Knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, and knowledge of distribution channels.  Expert computer skills. 

·  Engineering /technical background a plus.
