The Manager is the primary liaison for all issues involving carrier activities at the distribution center, stores and vendors. Communicates directly with corporate transportation on all transportation related issues requiring deviation or alteration from any policies or guidelines established by the Company.QualificationsJOB RESPONSIBILITIES " Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local transportation regulations." Insure customer service mandates are strictly adhered to by all carriers." Communicate with Corporate, Field and distribution center management on all transportation related issues." Maintain and develop effective transportation cost control measures." Audit and approve all transportation related invoices." Insure all carrier routings are in accordance to corporate guidelines." Train and educate staff on latest transportation policy and operations." Insure all carrier routings are in accordance with corporate guidelines." Hires, orients, trains, evaluates, recommends pay increased and develops associates. When necessary carries out disciplinary actions or recommends termination of employment." Monitor and adjust delivery windows when necessary to maximize on time performance." Visit stores at regular intervals to acquire information in store, carrier and distribution center performance." Oversee the procurement of backhaul, third party or otherwise, for fleet operations." Maintain an open line of communication between distribution center operations, stores, carriers and Kmart Resource Center." Manage Customer Care Program and monitor performance." Monitor and adjust batch plan as necessary to optimize cross docking processes." Flexibility to work variable shifts.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS" Knowledge of computer systems, both personal computer and mainframe applications." Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations regarding transportation of freight and hazardous materials."
