Transportation Operations Analyst-Domestic

Execute strategic sourcing, buy decisions and operational plans across assigned transportation mode categories in support of the Easton Bell business. Lead strategic productivity initiatives that generate cost savings and process improvement while maintaining high levels of customer service. Provide business teams with transportation expertise as needed.

Sets the standards for effective negotiations, transportation competency, and company compliance to Federal, industry and internal regulations and guidelines reducing risk and exposure. Responsible for contractual control and rate negotiation for applicable business' and transportation modes. Provide cost impact analysis and recommendations for carriers including leasing arrangements.

Lead Operations and transportation initiatives. Develop partnerships and manage relationships and performance with the suppliers/carriers utilizing key performance metrics. Develop and analyze new opportunities that will enhance our logistics network through business process and sourcing analysis.

Job description:  Execute "buy" strategies in support of a Core Carrier Program based on mode expertise, category management, industry assessment and needs of the business - conduct Rfp, Rfi's and carrier bids. Participate in carrier negotiations and relationships - ensure contracts support lowest costs and superior service initiatives. Work with Internal customers on the introduction and publication of freight contracts and rate schedules. Develop partnerships and manage relationships and performance with the suppliers/carriers utilizing key performance metrics. Support EBS Farm Private Fleet Management Operations. Negotiate agreements for equipment leases and dedicated fleet services. Determine cost and service of Private Fleet vs. common carrier. Work with plants on standardized equipment. Manage transportation plan and expediting to deliver Direct Ship customers. Work closely with sales Operations to monitor shipment and track on-time delivery. Identify productivity initiatives that generate improved business processes, cost savings, cost avoidance and/or service improvements. Support studies for new items, co-mfg, new sources points or new customer distribution methods. Perform what-if analysis and critical thinking. Perform supplier assessments, publish monthly carrier scorecards and monitor overall performance against scorecard goals and expectations.Lead the support of SAP for Transportation & Freight pay. Support roll-out of WMS & Planning tools. Support the shipping and transportation process under the current and developing work stream. Work with all warehouse and distribution center management to ensure transportation operational efficiency. Work closely with plant to monitor key logistics metrics. (Splits, specials, etc)


Job Complexity:

•Must be able to understand industry and economic drivers (commodity fuel)) trends to develop long term strategies and potential industry capacity issues.
•Understand issues pertaining to fleet management. (i.e. driver pay and hours of service, equipment use, fuel procurement, satellite tracking and communications, etc.)
•Must be familiar with all modes of transportation.
•Must be familiar with transportation contracts including cost plus and strategic long term agreements.
•Remain abreast with industry and economic development, ensuring communication on issues that may have a national or local impact including fuel indexes.
•Work with Finance to complete lease-buy analysis.
•Optimize and propose buying strategies to deliver the highest levels of service to our customers at the lowest possible cost.
•Develop ways to leverage inbound transportation to synergize with outbound transportation.

Job Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in supply chain related field, preferred
•5 - 7 years of supply chain related experience
•Transportation /Logistics experience
•Good communication, presentation and teamwork skills
•Good quantitative and analytical skills
•Proficiency in desktop software applications
•The ability to effectively interact, communicate and influence all levels of management is essential
